Computex 2014 - Deepcool

The first stand we visited was that of Deepcool, which was showing off a host of new products including cases, coolers and power supplies. We've seen a couple of its products before, namely the Gamer Storm Gabriel and the GAMMAXX S40 but the company is clearly keen to expand its offerings.


First up is a new micro-ATX cube case. It has an eye catching steam-punk theme and is aptly named the Steam Castle. It will be available in a variety of colours, with Deepcool showing us the black, white and red, pink and yellow versions. The top tower vents will feature LEDs which you can change the colour of and the case also has built in fan speed contol. It comes with a rear 120mm fan and room for three more fans including a 200mm front mount, and the roof also supports 240mm all-in-one coolers. Inside it has a horizontal design with plenty of CPU and GPU clearance and room for one optical drive, three HDDs and two SSDs.


As the Steam Castle is still in development, pricing and availability hasn't been nailed down, but Deepcool expects it to retail for around £75-80 including VAT, and it will be available through Overclockers UK. The company also showed us two types of the case – one with a glossy plastic finish on the roof and front and one with a soft touch, rubberised matt finish. It's currently unclear whether only one or both types will come to market, but Deepcool are keen to hear opinions of preference. Personally we prefer the rubberised exterior as it looks neater and is less prone to scratches and marks, but we've some comparison shots below so you can make up your own minds – let us know what you think in the comments.


Deepcool will also be entering the growing all-in-one liquid cooler market with its Maelstrom range. The Maelstrom 120 and Maelstrom 240 feature, unsurprisingly, 120mm and 240mm radiators. The fans blades will be red, adding a splash of colour to what is usually a rather uninteresting design, though a Maelstrom 120K will also be available with an all black fan. All models will also feature bionic breathing LED lights. Pricing and availability has yet to be disclosed.


For air coolers, Deepcool had on show its beastly Assassin II, with dual towers and dual fans. If the design looks familiar, it's because Deepcool is an OEM manufacturer for Alpenfohn, and if the performance of the K2 Mount Doom is anything to go by the Assassin II will be capable of taming some very hefty overclocks.


Finally, the company had its series of upcoming PSUs on show as well. This ranged from the basic DN400, with 400W of juice on tap and no 80 Plus rating, to the all singing DQ1250, with 1250W, modular flat cabling and an 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating. We've an ultra high wattage PSU group test in the works, so we'll be sure to include this if it's available in time.
